Sami Kishawi : How low can you go?

Sami Kishawi hits a new low in his latest essay 'On Gilad Shalit’s fifteen minutes of fame and the hummus he ate' Forgive me if I dont link to the sack o'crap.

Sami's spews are in italics:

'I wonder how long it will take for Gilad Shalit, his family, and his supporters, to realize that his fifteen minutes of fame are almost up.'

It was 5 Years, Sami. 5 years.

"Here is a soldier, a military combatant, a conscientious member of an army implementing the illegal occupation of a people and its land. Shalit is nothing special — the Israeli military currently employs tens of thousands of his prototypes. The only thing that stands out from the ordinary is that Shalit happened to be captured while on active military duty."

Sami, Gilad as a POW would have been entitled to the rights of all prisoners under the Third Geneva Convention, e.g., the right to humane treatment (Art. 13); the right to have knowledge of a POW's location (Art. 23); and the right to unfettered access to the Red Cross

"But soon after, the memory of Shalit disappeared almost as fast as he did. Except by his family and close friends, he was no longer considered a hot topic."

No, Sami. We never forgot.

We didn't forget him in San Francisco, where he was made an honorary citizen. He wasn't forgotten in Paris, France, Rome, Italy ,Miami, FL, New Orleans, LA, Baltimore, MD, and Pittsburgh, PA, all of whom adopted him as their own.

"As it turns out, all they could find was a skinny Shalit. So, in a frantic effort to condemn Shalit’s treatment, they blamed Gaza’s hummus. He wasn’t starved, they admitted, “but the menu was primarily Gazan and not really nutritious. There were pitas and a lot of hummus.” In other words, Shalit’s captors inhumanely denied his right to appetizers and deserts from a five-star restaurant along the beautiful coast."

Yes, Sami. An emaciated, gaunt pale Gilad Shalit was released. A boy who had been in solitary confinement for 5 years. One who hadn't seen daylight in 5 years. The International Committee of the Red Cross repeatedly asked Hamas for permission to visit Shalit . Even B'Tselem issued a statement saying "international humanitarian law absolutely prohibits taking and holding a person by force in order to compel the enemy to meet certain demands, while threatening to harm or kill the person if the demands are not met"

"Although the Gazan diet wasn’t good enough for Shalit, it is good enough for thousands of Palestinians facing a siege that prevents foods as simple as chocolate and nutmeg from entering the territory. If pita and hummus isn’t all that nutritious for Shalit, it likewise isn’t all that nutritious for those who have nothing else, those who have no access to the necessary vitamins and minerals, those whose foods spoil at the Eretz border crossing."

Sami, the rumors of "starving Gaza " are just so yesterday. The only goods that are currently restricted are arms, weapons, ammunition, and items that have military as well as civilian applications. 6,946 tons of goods and gas (including 360 tons of fruit) entered Gaza from Israel this week alone. Last year, an article in the Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal reported a 34.1% obsesity rate for males in Gaza, and 41.6% rate for women.

Sami, I suspect the core of your problem isn't lack of information. Your problem is lack of empathy and a singular lack of compassion.

who ever this sami kishawi is i hope he gets half eaten by a shark some day. by the way this would have been a good opportunity to use the Rome photo i see you mentioned unless you wanted the feature photos to just focus on the S.F. Bay Area. nice Gilad Shalit flag at Union Square it was pretty much a one of a kind at local pro-Israel demos. that was pretty thoughtful of whomever made sure to get one.

Sami should read what Dr. Hesham A. Hassaballa has to say about Gilad:

"As Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured by Hamas more than five years ago, was finally released in a vast prisoner exchange, it made me think about the relentless pursuit of his release by Israel. Such a pursuit by one's family is both natural and understandable. Yet, not only was his family behind him, but the entire nation of Israel was behind him.

So many times, Israelis - from government on down - mentioned that they will never abandon one of their own.

No matter how one feels about the Arab-Israeli conflict, it must be said that the tenacity of the Israeli people over Gilad Shalit is truly admirable. I even saw someone wearing a shirt saying "Free Gilad Shalit" during the 2011 Chicago Marathon this year. And it begs a very important question: do we as Muslims have this same tenacity over "our people"?

Sadly, the answer is "no."

Try not to discredit yourself my zionist pig. It doesn't look good on your part. No need to thank me for this advice, it's simply common sense - something you lack.

You are a moron if you think obesity is a clear sign of being well-fed. As stated in the study you cite, "The high frequency of obesity among refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territories could be related to a lack of attention to healthier lifestyles, including good nutrition and exercise. However, in fields such as Gaza the lower consumption of certain foods could also be influenced by the limitations imposed on movement of people and goods that account for a poorer choice and higher prices in food markets." Also, see http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2011/04/twin-dangers-malnutrition-and-obesity/ and http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2009/04/malnutrition-obesity-present-global-food-challenges/ Obesity may arise concurrent with malnutrition, as poverty leads to increased consumption of cheaper, processed foods.

Sami, you great in every way and all the ways. You remind me with a map of Palestine that I kept in my heart with the following printed under it "Have you ever seen how Palestine was about to be wiped out of the map?"

Keep up the good work Sami, Palestine in need of every hero like you. And you are my hero Sami, yes you are my hero.

WOW! I don't know who you are, but your a fucking imbecile. First of all Sami writes very eloquently and describes his encounters of injustice-yes to the Palestinian people.
No one is going to take you seriously with colloquial slang like 'so yesterday' so do us all a favour and don't attempt to write about pressing-issues, you un-educated Zionist bitch.
Religion should not be a means to draw-upon war or any type of violence and Israel is no exception to this. Israel is a money-hungry power machine- and no more holy then the Vatican.
So unless you want to go live in the West-Bank and give a firsthand stance at what the fuck is actually going on on the other side of the wall- shut up.
Nice to know the tragic Holocaust happened to displace Jews and now they doing the same to other people (y)

Firstly, Anonymouse, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but no one is entitled to make up facts- and that is Sami Kishawi's problem. "Eloquent" lies are still lies. Secondly, if you want to be taken seriously, don't leave the same ridiculous comment 11 times on a blog. It will get deleted. And finally you might consider cleaning up your language so you dont sound like gutter trash.

When people like Sami kishawi lie- they are going to get called on it. here and every where. Its that simple.

I don’t know, Dusty, but Anonymous’ eloquent squawk with two Fs and a B has utterly convinced me. He’s right – religion should not be a means to draw-upon war or any type of violence, and the Muslims are no exception. Which is what the Copts have averred for close to fourteen centuries, the Assyrian Christians likewise, as well as many other groups in the Middle-East, too numerous to mention.
Not that it's relevant here, but I still want Constantinople back.
And the heathen Truk expelled from all the Byzantine lands.
Heck, I consider the descendants of As-Sawd in the Hijaz no more than interloping camel raiders made mighty by religious extremism.

This Sami Kishawi person - partisan of all the wrong causes, I assume.
Sounds like a real sweet heart.
